After a courageous battle with cancer, Lana passed away peacefully with her family near on Sunday June 9, 2024, at the age of 74.
Survived by her partner William (Bill) Parliament and predeceased by her husband of 44 years Wayne Wells-Garrett. Dear mother and friend to Dean (Tammy), Darin and Dana (David). Much loved grandmother of Grayson, Jacob, Jayda and Kieran. Extended family, Terry (Cindy), Willie (Mary) and Jim (Sheila). She will be dearly missed by their faithful companion Maddy.
Predeceased by her loving parents Amos and Grace Mateff, and brother Glen (Rosanna). She will be greatly missed by her far reaching family and extensive network of friends. She had such a presence in life, she made new connections wherever she went.
Lana was an avid reader, traveller and lover of all animals. She spent many days at her little piece of paradise, the trailer.
She retired from the Port McNicoll library in 2002, but volunteered until she could no longer. She had a desire to make Tay Township and Port McNicoll a better place for all.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on Saturday July 6th from 2-5pm in the Port McNicoll Community Centre.
Memorial donations to the OSPCA or the RVH Cancer Center in Barrie would be appreciated by the family.
