Irene was born on August 25th, 1932 in Callander Ontario to Paul and Blanche Joron. Irene knew from a young age that she would be a teacher. She obtained her Teachers Certificate from North Bay Normal School in 1952. She immediately moved to Toronto to pursue her dream. She was a passionate kindergarten teacher who positively influenced hundreds of children over her career. Irene never stopped learning and completed an Honours Arts degree from York University in 1984.
After raising their three children in Maple, Ontario, Don and Irene retired in Midland, Don’s hometown. They truly loved this next stage of their life. Together they immersed themselves in the community travelled around the world enjoying many winters in Sun City, Arizona.
Irene was happiest when her calendar was full. Her hobbies included volunteering at the Georgian Bay General Hospital, was an active member of PROBUS, she enjoyed lawn bowling, painting, reading, going to the theatre and playing cards. Irene was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain family and friends at their home. She was a selfless, kind and compassionate woman who always had a positive outlook on life. Irene saw the best in people by accepting and welcoming them into her heart. She will be remembered for her strength, resiliency and independence.
She enjoyed her final years at Chartwell Tiffin where she met many good friends and one true soulmate in her “adopted sister” Maddy.
