It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to my beautiful mother Suzanne Gail Williams (nee Bellamy) who passed away November 23, 2024 just shy of her 91st birthday.

She was born on February 17, 1934 to Verna Calhoun-Garrett and Fred Bellamy.

Suzanne was predeceased by her loving son John Williams and tragically the joy of her life, her grandson John Williams junior.

She is survived and will be missed greatly by her daughter Kelly Graham and her husband Peter, her granddaughter Maryann Williams, and two great grandchildren Olivia and Taylor.

There were so many sides to Suzanne.  She loved learning…she never stopped reading… she was never without a good book to curl up with and few could beat her at scrabble.

Mom was always a very hard worker and worked her whole life.  She started at age 14, part time at The Diana’s restaurant on King Street.  She was the smiling face of both Loblaws and the A&P for over 40 years. Sue was a true Canadian Great Lakes girl.  In her youth she challenged herself to swim across Little Lake in Midland - both ways, plus many long swims in Georgian Bay.  As a single mom, she would pack up the camper with John and myself and our chubby beagle Buckshot.  Off we would go on another summer camping adventure on Lake Superior or the northern Wilds of Georgian Bay.

And yet she loved to travel farther, always with her girlfriends - Hawaii, England, Scotland, Jamaica, Florida, and all across Canada.  Caribbean cruises, bus tours to Rama, and anywhere she could hear the bagpipes.

Mom was always the life of the party, a curler, a golfer, part of many community clubs.  Sue always had the kettle going for a good cuppa tea, in fact she deeply believed that a cup of tea could solve anything.

At age 64, upon retirement, Sue took on a new job.  The huge role of raising her grandchildren John Junior and Maryann.  Mom poured all her kind, generous, and big heart into providing a good, loving home for her son and grandchildren.

I can’t say enough about what a wonderful, caring, loving environment the Villa Care Centre Midland has provided for my Mom over the last six and half years.  They are an amazing team.  PSWs, Doctors, Nursing Staff, Housekeeping, Enrichment team, Physical therapists, Dietician, kitchen staff, hairdresser, Administration they all went above and beyond supporting my mother, treating her with respect, love, and compassion.

As per my Mom’s request there will not be a celebration of life. If you so wish to make a donation in Mom’s honour :
