Man cuts hand during attempted B&E, gets arrested: OPP

The 25-year-old, of no fixed address, is facing multiple charges after his attempted break-in at downtown business, police say

An Orillia man got hurt attempting to break into a Midland business and then got arrested.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the OPP responded to a burglary alarm at the Elegant Gourmet business on King Street in Midland at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Upon arrival of officers, a suspect was found in the business who cut his hand in the process of getting into the business. The arrested suspect was triaged at the scene by Simcoe County paramedics and transported to the detachment for processing.

Braeden Beaudoin, 25, of no fixed address Orillia has been charged with break, enter a place — with intent to commit indictable offence, possession of break-in instruments, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Beaudoin was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 30, 2025
