Search underway for youth swimmer missing from Penetanguishene beach

A 911 call came in just before noon reporting the swimmer lost from view at Penetanguishene’s Huronia Park

Emergency crews are searching Penetanguishene Bay for a youth who went missing while swimming at a public beach.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 911 call came in just before noon reporting the swimmer lost from view at Penetanguishene’s Huronia Park.

Since then, OPP, including the Marine Unit, and the Penetanguishene Fire Department have been scouring both land and water in the area.

Officials are asking the public to stay away while they conduct their search.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Huronia Park today on Fox Street near Broad Street, and anyone living in the area who may have surveillance video, is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
