MIDLAND - A 40-year-old woman from Tay Township faces numerous drug-related charges following execution of a search warrant at a residence on Highway 93 Waverly on March 21, a news release said.
As part of an ongoing investigation, Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit from Southern Georgian Bay and Orillia detachments seized a considerable quantity of drug-like substances believed to be cocaine, crack cocaine, codeine pills, over $28,000 in Canadian currency, a 2024 Jeep Wrangler, 2018 Mercedes C300, a stun gun along with cell phones and other related drug paraphernalia. Also seized were approximately $25,000 in high-end purses, bags, clothing and jewelry alleged to have been obtained by the proceeds of crime, police said.
Investigators have arrested and charged Chantal Cruise, 40, of Tay Township with the following charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act:
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 - in Canada (three counts)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Trafficking in Schedule 1 substance - cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
The suspect was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1.
