ESSA TWP. — Two family pets have died following a fire at a trailer home in Angus this morning.

Nottawasaga OPP officers, as well as crews from the Essa Fire Department, responded to a call of a structure fire at 62 Brentwood Rd. around 9 a.m. on Jan. 2.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, police the trailer home was engulfed in flames.

While no one was inside the residence at the time of the blaze, police say both of the homeowners' dogs were found deceased as a result of the fire.

The blaze was contained to the one residence and completely extinguished within a few hours of fire crews arriving at the location, police stated in a release.

Officials have determined the fire was caused by a space heater. It is not considered to be suspicious in nature.

The road near the trailer home was closed temporarily while fire crews worked to douse the fire.

Police say the homeowner will be staying with family given the structure is deemed a total loss due to the damage it sustained.
