30-Jul-1935 - 22-Mar-2025
Passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland at the age of 89. Donald of Midland, beloved husband of Barbra Arbour (Née Dion) for 61 years. Loving father of Christine (David Neill) Holden. Cherished grandfather of Scott (Danielle) Holden. Caring brother of Pauline. Don will be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends. Donald is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Alma Arbour and his sister Betty Mae.
Donald had many hobbies in his life. These include woodworking, boat building, hydraulics, fishing and hunting. There were many tall tales from the annual hunt camp trips with ‘the boys’.
Snowmobiling, motorcycling, ATVing, boating and camping were all also enjoyed and shared with family and friends over the years.
Donald loved music. In fact, there wasn’t a room in or out of the house that didn’t have a speaker mounted for everyone’s listening pleasure. His passion for music started early, as did his love for the Trumpet. Don played in a band in the 1950’s, and most recently a member of the Georgian Bay Brass, which he spoke fondly about in his last days.
Donald was an Electrician by trade and worked at Waltec Industries until he retired in his 65th year. He was known for is incredible ingenuity and creativity. He was a kind man, who was straight forward, well respected and had a great sense of humour. He always considered himself as a ‘Penetang boy’, and until his passing, his mind was as sharp and quick witted as always.
Donald will be missed by so many.
