May 26, 1944 – March 19, 2025

Allan, loving father to Aimee and Aaron from Vancouver, and Kyla (Mike) from Wasaga Beach, and very proud “pup-pup” to Dominic and Rocco, passed into the spirit world at 80 years of age following a brief, but devastating illness.

Allan was the youngest son of the late Harriet and Roy Assance. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn, his sisters Sheila, Merle, Doris and Susan, his brothers Melvin and Eric. He is survived by his brothers Carl and Dennis (Cecile) and sister Sandra. Allan will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as “Unc”, and family and friends as “Al”.

Allan was a survivor of the Mohawk Institute, an Indian Residential School. Upon returning home to Christian island, and following his time at Midland High School, Allan graduated from the RCMP Training Center in Regina. He proudly served as an RCMP officer until his retirement.

Allan enjoyed retirement, travelling the world far and wide with his wife Marilyn, always actively seeking that next adventure. They especially enjoyed camping at Granny’s Beach where the beauty of Georgian Bay greeted them regularly whilst they paddled their kayaks together.

Golf was his other true love. His nephew Stevie (aka, the “kid”) was Unc’s “person”; the pair of them often up to no good! Steve not only tended to his care with a great love throughout the last few months, but “golf” was their mutual love language, occupying much of their free time together. For Unc, golf was his passion since the 70’s – he was good at it too, having played on the famous PGA tour back in the day. Special acknowledgement to all his golfing buddies throughout these many years.

Allan’s service will occur March 31st at the Penetanguishene Funeral Home, 155 Main Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario, beginning with a light reception at 1:00 pm and service beginning at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life is planned for August on Christian Island at Granny’s Beach.

Final instructions from Uncle Al…please spell my name right.

In Lieu of Flowers: Donations may be made to The Niigii Fund, c/o Penetanguishene Funeral Home, in Allan’s memory.
