Passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025 at the age of 94, surrounded by family at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. Leaving behind the love of his life Marianne (nee Wild) after 71 years of marriage, his daughter Liese, sons Klaus (Susan) and Peter (Joanne), and special Opa of Kate. Willy was predeceased by his sister Lieselotte Laudahn and brother Hans Bolte.
He was born on September 7, 1930 in Ovelgoenne Germany and immigrated to Canada in September 1954 where he settled in Midland and began an enduring and successful career at Ernst Leitz Canada (ELCAN). He was incredibly dedicated to his work while providing for his family.
A quiet man with a dry sense of humour, Willy was always hard working even in retirement. He enjoyed taking care of his home and garden, chatting with the neighbours over the hedge and he loved spending time with his wife and family. Willy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Cremation has taken place and interment will occur at a future date.
His family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for the care they extended to him and the family during his time there.
