Don Bylow passed away peacefully surrounded by family members at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland Ontario, on October 2nd 2024 in his 89th year. Born on July 2,1935, Don lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end, touching many lives along the way.
Don was married in 1953 and he would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on November 28th to Nancy, a girl he met from Toronto who moved to Midland. He was a proud father of four children.
Don is survived by his loving wife Nancy Bylow (nee Nicklee) and children Brenda, Brian, Gary (Brenda) Donna (Tim). Loving grandfather to Shawn Cadieux, Carrie Anne Robbins, Matthew Powell, Alexis Harper. Don was also an adoring great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Predeceased by his parents Edward & Elizabeth Bylow, his five sisters and two brothers, and grandson Tommy Powell.
Don had a great passion for music which could been seen through his ability to play multiple stringed instruments. He was always excited to try something new – which lead him to learn the electric guitar and fiddle. If it had strings, he wanted to learn how to play it.
Don spent many years in a local band called Bob and the Westerners in the Midland area. He was the lead guitarist which he enjoyed to no end. He had great pleasure in entertaining friends in public, as well as his family at home. The joy of music for him resulted in lots of fun and laughter. He also enjoyed classic movies; his favourite stars included Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne. One could not forget the Three Stooges, which filled the family home with many laughs.
Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be hold on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2-5pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 80, Located in Midland, ON.
