Gordon served with the Primary Reserves and as a member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre for over 40 years and for another 20 plus years in the Navy League of Canada. His accomplishments included being Commanding Officer of RCSCC Trillium, Haida, Vanguard and Illustrious. During his active years, he was employed at the Borden Air Cadet Summer Training Centre as the Senior Barracks Officer. Over those years of dedicated service, he mentored many cadets and officers and his positive impact has been echoed by many. Gordon leaves behind a legacy that cannot be easily matched. In his later years, Gordon became active in the Royal Canadian Legion, serving on the Executive Committee of the Br. 316 in Waubaushene for close to 10 years and also held the position of President.

Many thanks to the staff at both the Royal Victoria Health Centre and Georgian Bay General Hospital for their care for Gordon during the last six months of his life. A special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Hospice Huronia Tompkin House for their compassion and caring shown to Gordon, and his family and friends, during the last days of his journey.
