Jim was born in Toronto in 1943 to Cora Huycke and Gerald McGrath. He is predeceased by his older brother Harold and sister Lorraine.
Jim was the beloved husband of Carol McGrath for 62 years. He was a devoted father to Jamie (Kathy), Rick (Susan), Ken, Kelli (Marty) and Kim (Carlos). He was also a caring grandfather to Shane (Jenny) Brand;(Tony) Terry (Beth) Ethan, Michael (Ashley), James III (Laura), Michelle, Matthew, Carly, Lindsay, and Colton. He will be remembered by greatgrandchildren Kaeli, Elenna, Myah, Lea, Dylan, and Carlo.
Jim was a skilled and hardworking mechanic and bodyman who liked to live on his own terms. In 1978, he convinced Carol to move to Penetanguishene where, over the years, they developed a close circle of friends and family. Jim's garage was a place where friends were always welcome to quench their thirst and tell a good joke or share a story. Jim battled cancer several times, so it's safe to say the old "machine" had a lot of mileage.
Despite many tune ups, the engine finally gave in on July 23rd. A sad day indeed. According to his wishes, Jim has been cremated, and there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date
