January 17th 1931 – February 15th 2025

On Saturday February 15 2025, our wonderful father passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 94, with his cherished best friend Marcel by his side. He leaves behind his beloved children, Kevin, Stephen and Chrissi (Paul, deceased) along with long time partner Elizabeth and her son Gabe. His grandchildren whom he loved so very much and held with so much pride, Gregory, David, Sarah, Travis and Samantha. Also his great grandchildren DeAndre, Dashall and Alice. He is predeceased by his former wife and dearest friend Jean Nan. He also leaves behind his brother-in law Kenneth Webb of Cape Breton along with many former in-laws whom he loved very much as well as many comrades still living from the RCMP.

A man who never stopped and flourished while he enjoyed so many passions and interests. As a musician and music lover, music was a constant in his life; from Transylvanian folk music to Canadian folk music he would transport to a space of joy and peace. His many walks in the bush in which he rescued old branches and twigs into glorious works of art in the form of walking sticks. Hundreds of them. He had a lifelong passion for golf (lately in Midland with his buddys Marcel and Frank) as well as fishing for salmon and steelhead on the rocky banks of the Nottawasaga. Dad was also the master of the charcoal grill! He was a favorite of all the family doggies, and appreciated by the many songbirds which he loved to feed on his deck amongst the hardwoods.

Our father had several accomplished careers; he served in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 27 years in which his roles included Security & Security Detail and as a sergeant in the Narcotics Division. Following his retirement with the RCMP he held several security positions until he found his second career at the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeon as their Chief Inspector. Upon his retirement he earned his Private Investigator license and also worked as a security consultant.

His family will hold a private service in the future where he will join his beloved parents, The Very Reverand George Nan and Maria Nan along with his cherished sister Anika (Annie) Nan in Windsor, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or your local Humane Society.
