December 28, 1938 – January 17, 2025
Kenneth George Wainman of Midland, Ontario, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on December 28, 1938, in Midland, Ken lived a life filled with varied experiences. For many years, he worked as a merchant marine aboard cargo ships, traveling extensively and developing a strong connection to life at sea. He later served in the Canadian Armed Forces, worked with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Canadian Federal Government and spent time teaching English in China.
Ken was predeceased by his sister, Doris MacDiarmid (née Wainman), in 2019, and his nephew, Dave MacDiarmid, in 2023. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Allan MacDiarmid of Midland, nephew Jon MacDiarmid and his wife Tania, and their daughter Kara. He is also remembered by Patricia MacDiarmid, widow of his late nephew Dave, and their son David.
In accordance with Ken’s wishes, there will be no public service. Donations in his memory can be made to the local Royal Canadian Legion.
