Charges laid after vehicle reported in a ditch on Highway 400

The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days

TAY TOWNSHIP - A call made by a passing motorist, to the OPP communications centre reporting a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 400, south of Port Severn sent officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police to the scene to investigate at 9:20 p.m., March 6, 2022. Officers were able to locate the reported Dodge Caravan along with an individual with the vehicle.

After speaking with this individual, a drinking and driving investigation commenced, resulting in the following charge for Ashwin Sood, 22 years old, of Scarborough.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused's drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines. The accused was released on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on March 24, 2022.
