Labour Day long weekend kept officers busy across Central Region on Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrolled roadways, trails and waterways with 1,663 traffic stops resulting in 1,870 charges - of those 1,194 charges were for speeding, stunt driving or racing.
Excessive speed and dangerous driving continue to threaten the safety of all road users. There is no excuse for risky driving behaviours on our roads when lives are on the line. Please slow down, drive cautiously, courteously and report dangerous drivers to OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1 in emergency.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment were kept busy over the Labour Day Weekend (Sept. 3- 6, 2021) enforcing driving legislation on area roadways. The following is a break down of the number of drivers arrested for impaired driving Criminal Code of Canada offences as well as offences under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario issued to motorists by officers while on patrol here in North Simcoe.
- Impaired drivers - three
- Speeding - 102
- Stunt driving - one
- Other moving traffic violations - 25
- Liquor offences - two
- No insurance - four
