A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing items from stores in Midland.

Security staff at Canadian Tire contacted Southern Georgian Bay OPP on May 19 after the accused was apprehended for not paying for electronic items.

The suspect was arrested, and police say they then located items stolen from Foodland in Midland. Police said in a news release store surveillance footage showed the man leaving without paying for several items on May 19.

Johnathon James Fournier, 36, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000 (shoplifting), possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a probation order.

He was held for a bail hearing and will appear in court at a later date.
