Man facing weapon, mischief charges after incident Wednesday in Midland

Frazer Drive was closed between Rose Crescent and Park Avenue in Midland for a police investigation on Wednesday.

A man is facing numerous charges following an incident Wednesday that led to a heavy police presence in town and a hold-and-secure situation at a Midland high school.

Police responded to a Frazer Drive residence shortly after 9 a.m. The road was closed between Rose Crescent and Park Avenue, and nearby St. Theresa’s Catholic High School was in hold-and-secure mode out of “an abundance of caution,” police said.

Michael John Ransom, 44, of Midland, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (five counts)
  • Mischief (obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property)
  • Mischief (destroys or damages property)
  • Uttering threats to damage property

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
