A 27-year-old Barrie man faces charges after his motorcycle crashed with a Hyundai SUV on Highway 400 Monday, snarling traffic for scores of drivers heading southbound following the Labour Day holiday weekend.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment, along with Tay Township Fire Service and County of Simcoe Paramedics, were sent to the scene north of Quarry Road at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, according to a news release.

An investigation resulted in a charge of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act to the man driving a 2022 Triumph motorcycle. He had a female passenger aboard at the time of the crash with the SUV.

The motorcycle riders were triaged and transported by paramedics to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Occupants of the SUV were not hurt.
