Penetanguishene man arrested in stolen vehicle investigation

Accused being held in custody pending a bail hearing, police say

ESSA TOWNSHIP – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a man and a woman on Sunday in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.

On Oct. 6 at around 9:38 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP received information about a vehicle that had been stolen from the area of 11th Line and 25 Sideroad in Essa that had two occupants inside of the vehicle.

About 20 minutes later, the vehicle was observed by Nottawasaga OPP in Essa Township, according to a release. Police recovered the vehicle and located two people inside.

Following an investigation, the pair were arrested and charged.

Susana Sobey, 52, from Adjala-Tosorontio Township was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said she was being held pending a bail hearing.

Corey Robinson, 41, of Penetanguishene was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to apply with a probation order.

Robinson was also being held pending a bail hearing, police said.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
