Two people have been charged following a violent robbery Tuesday in Orillia.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police received a report of a female who had been robbed in the parking lot of a Murphy Road business. An unknown female suspect had approached the victim and demanded all of her property. When the victim refused, she was assaulted and received several serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was treated at a local hospital.

Shortly after the incident, police were called to a possible break-in at an address on Mississaga Street East. Officers attended, located a man fitting the description of the suspect and arrested him. While searching the suspect, several items in relation to the robbery, belonging to the victim, were found, police said in a news release.

A witness account led police to identify a female suspect. At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, police were called about a number of suspicious persons in a parking lot in the area of Coldwater Road. Police attended, located the female suspect and arrested her.

Mark Fagan, 37, of South River, has been charged with robbery with violence and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing Wednesday in Barrie.

Jessica King, 30, of Orillia, has been charged with robbery with violence, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm (choke, suffocate or strangle), and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine). She was held in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday in Barrie.
