Local Ontario Provincial Police are investigating two separate "serious assaults" in Wasaga Beach and have charged two suspects, including a youth, following the incidents on June 2.

The Huronia West OPP responded to a 911 call on Beachwood Road just before 6 p.m. on June 2 and found a victim at the scene suffering from serious injuries caused by a weapon. The victim was taken to the hospital.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arriving but surrendered to police soon after.

Police charged a 28-year-old from Wasaga Beach with aggravated assault and other charges related to dangerous weapons and uttering threats to cause death.

The name of the man charged is not being released by police to protect the victim's identity. The suspect is in police custody pending a bail hearing, and they will face charges in court later.

At 8:45 p.m. the same evening, police were called to Beach Drive after two victims were pepper sprayed. While police were with the two victims, another call came in from a different group who had also been pepper sprayed.

Police chased a suspect on foot before making an arrest. A youth was charged with five counts of assault with a weapon. Their name will not be released as their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They will face the charges in court later.
