Surrounded by the love of his family, Lorne went to his heavenly home in his 94th year on Monday September 9th, 2024. Lorne was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 52 years Lois Mae (nee Baker) and leaves behind his loving wife Elda Knights. Forever remembered by his children Layla (Irv) Molenaar, Lenore (Phil) Cober and Leonard (Lynda) Ruegg.

He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren: Stephanie (Kasey) LaMorre, Eric (Britney) Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Jeremy (Laura) Cober, Jessica Cober (Matthew Martin), Jason (Katie) Cober, James (Carlee) Cober, Nicole (Nicholas) Jackson, Matthew Ruegg (Payton Midgely) and 15 great-grand children.

Cherished brother to the late Paul (Pat), late Howard (late Margaretta), Mary Lou and Doug (late Donna).

Lorne devoted his life to his family, serving God and helping others. He spent many years teaching, volunteering and spreading God's love in Canada, the Middle East, Zambia and the USA. He also worked for 22 years as a teacher at elementary schools in the Niagara area and was a proud Gideon for over 30 years, where he handed out hundreds of New Testament Bibles. In his retirement years, Lorne continued enjoying volunteering, spending winters in Florida, summers at Stayner Camp, tending to his vegetable gardens and spending time with his grandchildren. Lorne's desire was to bless others as the Lord had blessed him.

Arrangements entrusted to Nicholls Funeral Home (705-996-5016). Funeral Service will be held on Friday September 13th, 2024 at the Sixth Line Church (1152 Nottawasaga Concession 6, Stayner) at 3 pm. The family will be receiving friends at the church prior to the ceremony from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. A reception will follow at the church. A private family interment will be held at Stayner Brethren in Christ Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, donations can be made to The Gideons International, Camp Kahquah or BIC Canada Global.
